A group of people experienced in banking, industries, trading, hydropower and engineering, printing etc. had one common feeling that the economic growth of Nepal depends to a large, extent on the availability of adequate funds funds for long term credit, like the "Marshall Plan" which rejuvenated Europe from the ruins of World War II. Concurrently, promoting the existing investment activities as well as promoting entrepreneurism in Nepal by making available a hybrid of equitable venture capital and loans would, they felt, go a long way in Nepal's development.
On further brainstorming, they decided that this could be best achieved through a saving and loan co-operative keeping in mind the various pros and cons of different types of financial institutions. As a logical conclusion, "Sunshine Saving and Loan Co-operative Ltd." was registered on Jestha 16,2056 BS with this group as the founder members.

To promote the habit of saving among the people of Nepal starting with the people of Kathmandu by providing attractive rates of return on their deposits.
To utilize these funds promote Entrepreneurs in Housing and Real-Estate Development, Information Technology Introduction, etc. and to provide affordable loans to the members their genuine needs.
